I can't say enough how wonderful the music was for this series. This was the first time I met Daniel Scott.

We did some other series together after this one, but Bob is still my favourite.

Doing music for film is particularly difficult. One must not only be a consummate musician, but also a

consummate storyteller. It's rare to find people that do both well. Daniel hasn't yet been discovered by

Hollywood, which suits me fine, because I can still do more projects with him. Hehe

As ambitious as I was for this little Canada-French cartoon co-production, Daniel surpassed all

expectations and delivered world-class music. An illegal testosterone quotient passed under the

broadcaster's radar, and made this series rock... I think Daniel was the single most important artist on this

project. Nobody really paid much attention to the music, so we were free to go as far as we wanted without

 interference. It was great.

At the end of the production I think we were both so sad that it was over, that we made this CD project,

ostensibly for the crew, but also to keep the music alive. Here it is for the first time to listen to,

unadulterated by the image which pales by comparison; I hope you like it!

Please take particular note of some of my favourites:

5. Army From the Past:    So haunting

9. Sophia Grieves - Pirates:    Great ambience, emotion, great storytelling

11. Murder Overture in C minor:   A particularly appropriate 'classical' divergence - very stylish

13. The Puppets of the Yellow Shadow:   A child-like 'music box' style march made this episode really creepy

14. Chinese Opera:   It was about at this point in the production that I realised Daniel could do anything. Chinese Opera evolves into action scoring KO.

17. SMOG Headquarters:   John Barry James Bond.

19. The 4th dimension:    I asked Daniel for György Ligeti from 2001 ! What a great episode !

22. Discovering Atlantis:    Fantasy - Adventure at it's best. Echoes of Bernard Herrmann.

24. High Wire Action:    Great Action Scoring

26. Strange Forest:   I wanted Jerry Goldsmith's 'Planet of the Apes' score here (Jerry Goldsmith's score for the 1968 "Planet of the Apes" film borrows heavily from both Igor Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring" and Bela Bartok's string quartets).

31. Paris Frozen:    More great Fantasy - Adventure

34. Three Time Ragtime Mechanical Piano Bob Groove:   More versatility

38. Jungle Chase:   Retro jungle-themed action

40: Eva's Choice:    Touching resolution

41. Abduction:    I love this unusual time signature !

43. Dinosaur Hunters:    Relentless, epic action scoring. A great episode

MUSIC - Daniel Scott - HOO-AH ! ! (HUA)

Daniel Scott is at:  http://www.danielscott.net

I wanted a classical style score for the series to do honour to Bob Morane's retro origins. A lover of music for film, I'm a particular fan of Bernard Herrmann. " His music is typified by  frequent use of ostinati (short repeating patterns), novel orchestration and, in his film scores, an ability to portray character traits not altogether obvious from other elements of the film. He worked with reduced palettes of instruments (and some surprisingly innovative choices eg. the theremin in 'The Day the Earth Stood Still') " (Wikipedia)
